We are so excited to welcome KT Merry on the podcast today. She is a well renowned wedding and editorial photographer who’s accolades include top photographer in the world by Harper Bazaar, Brides and Martha. With all of her awards she also is passionate about conservation and educating.
We are going to talk all about abundance, KT’s Abundance Plan, and how she has used this mindset to get where she is today. Listen in if you want to learn how to level up your business and your life through the art of abundance.

I would like to dare you to dream bigger this year and to really pick a goal that makes you nervous to say it out loud. Find one small way that you can use your business for good. In the early days, for me, that was taking my camera to the humane society, but think about one way that you can use your business for good
FAST FACTS ABOUT KT MERRY:
What do you shoot with?
This is kind of like a trick question because typically anyone who’s seen me or worked with me at a wedding knows I have about three cameras on my shoulders at all times. Because I am a hybrid. I’m shooting film, medium format, film 35, and digital right now.
What’s your favorite post-wedding or event snack?
Oh, definitely a martini and spaghetti.
What’s your favorite wedding/creative pump up jam?
I’m not much of a music person, except for French jazz. My husband likes to call it “the conversation car”, which means just quiet. I love quiet. I love time to just review the schedule, or if I’ve cultivated some inspiration boards for it, I’ll go through that.
I just really like to quiet my mind before a day that we know is the opposite of quiet.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of your business?
I love getting outside. I love going to the dog beach. Just anything out in nature or with animals is really my favorite.
What’s the best education you’ve learned from?
You’ll find about 25 books on my desk, any given day. And really those have been my best teachers from afar. Later that turned into doing more digital programs and things like that. But I would say first and foremost, all the books that have really helped me to grow my mindset and continue to lean into it.
What is one daring leap you’ve taken in your business?
I think the first leap was starting my first passion project Render Loyalty, which was truly a leap of convincing several conservations in Africa to allow me to come to photograph the animals they protect. Self-funding that whole project and really leaning into the things that are most important to me, even though once again on paper really don’t pencil.
At first, especially, once I started leaning into that and bringing these causes and, and these values that I have into my business. I think for a long time, I felt they needed to be separate that I could be a conservationist and an animal lover over here. But over here, it’s just pretty weddings. And really bringing those two things together was definitely a transition and a leap for me that I’m glad that I took.
What is one thing you feel like you’re really great at in your business?
Definitely being able to cast that vision forward. Once I learned to start thinking about the future and not just the next milestone ahead but definitely seeing that bigger picture and really being able to build that plan year in advance and see how all the different things are going to work together.
