046: DEVELOPING a Relationship with the Visual Team on a Wedding Day with CHARLIE HILBRANT FILMS

March 3, 2021

EPISODE 046 SUMMARY

Today on Dare to Develop, we are welcoming Charlie Hilbrant who is a filmmaker out in Chicago. We are chatting all about how to create great relationships between the visual team members on a wedding day, and how we can work best together to serve our clients.

We were so inspired by the daring leap that Charlie made when he went full time and we just know that you will be too!

CHARLIE HILBRANT DARES YOU

With nobody around, I dare you to find a quiet place to go take 10 deep breaths. That’s 10 inhales through your nose and 10 exhales through your mouth. Feel yourself touching the floor or the chair and whatever comes up at that moment. It’s okay. Allow it to come up and allow it to pass if it needs to.

I dare you to listen to the voice that you hear, and that voice is going to be telling you something. It might tell you to put your two weeks at your job. It might tell you to break up with your significant other. It might tell you to ask out that person you’ve been thinking about asking out.

It might tell you to quit smoking cigarettes. It might tell you to love yourself a little bit more and be more patient with yourself. I dare you to just get quiet because although it seems scary to do that right before you do what will come is the rest of your life. And it’ll come from a really cool place.

FAST FACTS ABOUT CHARLIE HILBRANT of CHARLIE HILBRANT FILMS

What do you shoot with?

I have two Canons, 1DX MarkII and  then I like an SL2 around my neck.

What’s your favorite post-wedding or event snack?

Dried mangos

What’s your favorite wedding/creative pump up jam?

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 soundtrack

What is your favorite thing to do outside of your business?

Rent an airplane and go fly somewhere, randomly not knowing the destination of when I first took off.

What is one daring leap you’ve taken in your business?

To go full-time, this is storytime. After you know, being a standard and body double, I joined a police department. I had a salary, healthcare and then I had a son and my heart was just being called.

If you are listening to this podcast and you have a full-time job, but you know your calling is to be a floral designer. Just put your two weeks in. That’s how you do it because if you sit and you wait, there was never going to be a right time just to rip that bandaid off.

What is one thing you feel like you’re really great at in your business?

I’m an empath and  I can take something in the room or a feeling and immediately recognize the next step. Like if we are all free to be quiet, not that silence is to be avoided, but if something needs to happen and energetically, I can sense it and bring that action.

And sometimes that actually means just staying quiet or whatever it is, I can do that.

Do you have any announcements for our guests?

Something that I’ve been doing that’s kind of neat is is that I’ve been training for the past year and a half. Before the pandemic to be a healer and that’s something a little bit long overdue, but it’s happening in a really interesting time.

So what I’m offering anybody that hears this is not something to buy. This has been an interesting year for everybody. I can hold space really well, just for a non-judgemental. If I can ever be of service to hear where you are. It doesn’t matter if you’re a videographer, florist musician, or somebody who just pulled this podcast.

Just get in touch. I personally needed to hear somebody else who in my life I heard say the same thing. I do enjoy just being there for people who might just need an ear or a heart.
