Jainé is an amazing photographer, businesswoman and podcaster, who we met at Hybrid Co. this year and took her breakout class on how to start a podcast. Which is how we got here today with Dare to Develop. Jainé has some amazing tips not just stating a podcast but why diversifying your business is important.

What do you shoot with?
I’m a hybrid photographer, so I’ve got a Contax 645 80mm lens. I’m also a Nikon girl. I’ve got a Nikon D850 but I also have a Sony AR7III that I am thinking of switching over to.
What’s your favorite post-wedding snack?
A quick dessert like cake or the butter cookies, I’ll just put some of those in a napkin.
What’s your favorite pump-up jam?
I love 2000’s music, like N’Sync and Brittany Spears.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of your business?
Spending time with my family. I also like a good, post-wedding lazy Sunday. That really is my favorite. Getting to sleep in a little late, being a little groggy, and then having a nice brunch that my husband made.
What is one daring leap you’ve taken in your business?
I can think of two. The first was leaving my full-time corporate job. I worked for a very nice design Company. It was a cushy job. I got paid a lot of money, but I was really unhappy. And I knew I couldn’t do it for the rest of my life. So i decided to go back to school for photography. I really focused on the things that made me happy.
About a year later, I quit my job and started Brooklyn View Photography, which was my old company’s name. I think the other big leap was actually rebranding to Jainé Kershner Photography.
What is one thing you feel like you’re really great at in your business?
I think I’m great at being a good photographer. I know my stuff and I really am confident in my craft and I take pride in that. I’m also great with connecting with my clients and building real relationships with them.
